Undergraduate Student (2013): Nicolas de Jay
Nicolas De Jay earned his BSc in Bioinformatics at the Université de Montréal. He has worked with Dr. Sebastien Lemieux at the Institut de recherche en immunologie et cancer on developing a metric for assessing the performance of various DNA microarray normalization algorithms and ordering statistics. He has then worked with Dr. Benjamin Haibe-Kains at the Institut de recherche cliniques de Montréal on developing the mRMRe package, a highly-parallellized ensemble variant of the minimum Redundancy, Maximum Relevance (mRMR) feature selection algorithm. Nicolas De Jay is currently pursuing his MSc in Human Genetics at McGill University under the supervision of Dr. Nada Jabado, in Montreal, Canada. His MSc research project is focused on integrating statistics and biology to the problem of fusion transcript discovery on next-generation sequencing data., more specifically RNA-Seq.
