Postdoctoral Research Fellow: Laleh Soltan Ghoraie
Laleh received her PhD in Computer Science from University of Waterloo, Canada. She is interested in applications of Machine Learning in Bioinformatics. During her PhD studies, she proposed a framework – utilizing inference in Probabilistic Graphical Models - for predicting conformations of proteins’ polymorphic side chains. Furthermore, she developed a novel algorithm, named Kernelized Partial Canonical Correlation Analysis, to estimate networks of directly coupled side chains of proteins. Direct couplings reveal interesting information regarding allosteric behaviour of proteins. Prior to her PhD, Laleh earned a Master’s degree in Computer Science from University of Windsor, Canada. She is currently applying statistical and Machine Learning methods to analyze genomic data in pharmacogenomics applications.
