Postdoctoral Research Fellow: Zhaleh Safikhani
Dr. Zhaleh Safikhani holds a PhD in bioinformatics from University of Tehran, Iran. Her major research focus was on de novo transcriptome assembly and isoform discovery from RNA-seq reads. In her thesis work she devised a novel de novo method that incorporate Interval Integer Linear Programming to resolve alternatively spliced isoforms. Before pursuing her PhD studies, she received a master’s degree in computer science with an emphasis on data mining and machine learning. Using her experience in analyzing next generation sequencing data, she is currently investigating the association between tumor-specific transcripts and drug sensitivity.
